EXPERT WITNESS FOUNDATION DAY -
CLINICAL NEGLIGENCE COURSE

COURSE INTRODUCTION

This expert witness training course focuses on the legal principles and practical requirements involved in preparing clinical negligence reports. Clinical negligence claims can arise across all areas of medicine, with some of the most common specialties involved including emergency medicine, surgery, and obstetrics.

This course covers:

• General duties of an expert witness
  
• Legal breach of duty
  
• Informed consent
  
• Report writing
  
• Other CPR Part 35 duties
  
• Conferences with counsel
  
• Giving evidence in court in alleged clinical negligence cases involving medical professionals
  
  

Participants will have the opportunity to explore the key issues surrounding expert evidence in clinical negligence litigation, while also gaining practical guidance on reducing the risk of litigation within their own clinical practice.
