The Faculty of Expert Witnesses (FEW) Panel has been established to promote high standards of medico-legal expertise and provide law firms, insurers, and medico-legal agencies with confidence when instructing expert witnesses.
The FEW recognises doctors who demonstrate appropriate training, professional standards, and commitment to best practice within medico-legal work.
The Faculty of Expert Witnesses offers two levels of membership:
Fellows are Consultants and GPs who have demonstrated an advanced level of medico-legal competence and professionalism.
To qualify as a Fellow, doctors must:
Members are Consultants and GPs who have demonstrated a commitment to medico-legal practice through appropriate training and professional profile registration.
To qualify as a Member, doctors must:
Both Fellows and Members are expected to uphold high standards of medico-legal practice, including professionalism, responsiveness, compliance, and service quality, through adherence to the FEW Code of Good Practice.
Consultants and GPs listed within the SpecialistInfo directory who are not FEW members may still accept medico-legal instructions but have not yet met the criteria required for FEW membership.
A small one-off fee applies for the independent report review process required for Fellowship assessment.
